Take a Ride!
Students practice their woodworking skills as they learn how to construct a papaholua. Under the guidance of Tom Stone, students try their hand at shaping and finishing the various components of the sled and also the ever-important lashing techniques that are required to ensure sturdy construction. After sealing the entire sled with kukui nut oil, students are then allowed to give it a try on the grassy slopes of nearby Shipman Park.
